Wintertainment ‘08
For some reason the switch from Christmas celebrations to the full-throttle pace of Wintertainment is always a shocker! As our previous post describes, we spent the Christmas break with my family in Minnesota. It was particularly enjoyable this year due to Lauren being old enough to participate in the gift exchange. She enjoyed opening gifts from her Aunties and Uncles as well as “helping” Mommy and Daddy open their presents!
On Christmas Day, at about 6:30 pm, we loaded into our van and began to make the trek back to our home in Westboro. Half way home the wind and snow began. By the time we made it almost all the way back, we were driving in whiteout conditions! Fortunately we made it home safely.
Once we got the house warmed back up and the driveway cleared of snow, it was time to head out to camp for our Wintertainment staff meeting. In less than 24 hours we would welcome over 230 high school students to Wintertainment. Camp was so full that we had to add an additional bunk to each of the cabins just to fit the kids in! What a blessing!
Wintertainment is a high-energy, fast-paced event with many activities, both indoors and out. Like normal, my particular responsibility was to video and photograph the entire event and make DVD’s available for the students to take home. I was able to work with a good friend, Evan Johnson, for the third year in a row. Evan did a great job with the photographs as well as helping out with some of the office responsibilities. Here are some of his photos:

We won’t know the extent of how God used this time in the students’ lives until we get to heaven, but it was an honor to be part of something that has the potential to change lives.
